Chasing Lincoln's Killer

One of my favorite non fiction books is Chasing Lincoln's Killer by: James Swanson. This is the first book I read from that author and I would encourage many people to read books by this author. I found out about this book when I was looking through a Scholastic Book Order Magazine. I loved reading about the Civil War and my favorite president to read about is Abraham Lincoln so I went up to my teacher and she said I would love this book and it turns out she was right.

There is not really a main character in the story are John Wilkes Booth and the people that helped him kill Lincoln. This story is told in a third person narrative. What made this book amazing is that it was very detailed and it made you feel like you were actually there! This book is a true account of the manhunt for John Wilkes Booth. It is also full of interesting pictures and artifacts from the time period. Anything that appears in quotes was actually said by that person which made me love this book even more.

What keeps me reading this book is the suspense and action in this book. I couldn't put this book down. Since I love American history, I knew this book was right for me. If you like America history like I do, then it is worth reading for pleasure, but if you are one of those people who don't like history, then you probably wouldn't like this book that much.

I liked this book, but I would not recommend this book for anyone under sixth grade, and then, only if they were really interested in history. There was an actual picture of four people hanging in the book, which can be a little eerie for some people. But overall, this is a great book to read about!

Usually I am not a big fan of non fiction books, but this book really blew me away...

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Another one of my favorite books that I have read in my lifetime is the classic Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney and it was a funny book. This was the first book I read from the author. I first knew about this book when I heard everybody talking about this new book that came out and I wanted to read this book and see if I liked just as much as everybody else did.

The main characters in this book are two middle schoolers named Greg Heffley and his "best" friend Rowley. There is also Greg's mom and dad, his older brother Rodrick and his younger brother Manny. You can't forget the other characters in the book that makes this book come alive like Fregly and the others... I like these character because I can put these character in the place of people I already know and that can be funny. This story takes place in middle school so I can relate to this book. The other thing I liked about these character is that they are around my age and I can feel what they are thinking. Overall, the character may sometimes be cliched, but they are funny to read about and they make a good story.

What keeps me reading this book is the humor and its funny moments. The other think I like about this series is that, there is usually something that comes up in every book in the series. For example, the Stinky Cheese is a popular thing in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series and it comes up often. There are also funny moment the involve the Stinky Cheese.

It is worth reading for pleasure because no matter who you are, you will find this book somewhat amusing. I would mostly recommend it to kids in their teen years because they can have more fun reading this book than adults can. But, I don't discourage adults read it because, like I said before, it is a funny book for everybody to enjoy. The only thing that I don't like about this book is that there can sometimes be a cliched parts than annoy me. But I can't speak for you, we all read differently and enjoy different types of books.

This book is part of a wonderful series and it is a good series. This book is the first one of the series. I chose this book to talk about in my blog and not the other ones in the series because I didn't really couldn't chose which was the best so I just chose the original one. Now that  think about it, the original Diary of a Wimpy Kid is probably the best one, but I will get back with you with my final answer in which I think is the best one. If you read this series, what is your favorite Diary of a Wimpy Kid and why?

It is hard for me to find a perfect book and this is one of my favorite books I have every read. <NS>

When You Reach Me

I read a book called When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead and it was an exciting and surprising book. This was the first book I read from the author. I found this book because I hear a lot of people talk about this book and how good it is and I wanted to explore the book and see if I liked it.

The main characters are a sixth grader named Miranda and her best friend Sal. The other main character that is important is the crazy man on the corner. I like these characters because they were around my age and I could feel their emotions in the situations they were in because I pictured myself in that situation and it helped me understand the book better. It was also fun to see what would happen next because like I said before, the main character is around my age so we would sometimes think the same in some situation in the book and I would like to see if I was thinking the same thing the character was. Overall, the characters are fun to read about and they make a perfect book.

What keeps me reading the book is the suspense in the book. In the book, Miranda get these mysterious notes and does not know who the are from and I get really "jumpy" to find out what would be the next note and what she would find out about it. I could hardly put the book down because it was just my type of book and I loved it.

It is worth reading for pleasure and reading for pleasure because no matter what age you are, you will find this book amusing in some way. There are not any boring parts in the book the really stood out to me, but everybody reads differently so I could jot speak for what you might think of the book. I think if you don't like book that will get you "jumpy" and that have a suspense twist, than I do not recommend the book to you. But other than that, it s a really good book and you should read it. (I now feel like the people that were telling me so much about how good this book is and how I should read it!)

If you have read my recent blogs, you probably know the type of reader I am and how I like suspense and thrilling books. To be honest with you, this is one of the best books I have every read and this take your imagination into the "jungle." <NS>

The Watson Go to Birmingham_1963

I finished reading a book called The Watson Go to Birmingham_1963 by: Christopher Paul Curtis and it was a very educational, fun and interesting book. This was the first book that I read from this author and after I read this book  I  wanted to read more of Christopher Paul Curtis's book because it was my cup of tea. I really like books that take place in a moment of history. So, when I saw this book, I knew it was the right one for me. As you may know already, this book takes place during the Civil Rights Movement in one of the mod segregated states back then, Birmingham, Alabama.

This book is about a family that goes down South to visit their grandma in Alabama. "When Momma and Dad decide it's time for a visit to Grandma, Dad comes home with the amazing Ultra Guide (the car on the cover of the book), and the Watsons set out on a trip like no other. They're heading South. They're going to Birmingham, Alabama, toward one of the darkest moments in America's history." The family consist of a mother and father, a little girl (Joetta), a ten year old boy (Kenny, the narrator) and a thirteen year old juvenile delinquent (Byron). I like the characters in this book because I like how everybody in the family reacts with each other and gets into fights because that is what makes the characters interesting. Also, the situation they are in and what they do are what make the book interesting and fun to read. The thing that keeps me reading this book is the family dynamic the characters have inside the family. It shows how at the end of the book they get closer to each other. I can hardly put this book down except for a couple of chapters that you don't fully understand after you read it again or process it in your brain for a while and you need to connect all the pieces in the book in order to really like the book like I did. It was worth reading it for pleasure because at the end of the book, you learned a lot about of what happened back in the 1960s like you were actually there. Like I said before, there may be parts you don't understand, but at the ned of the book you will. That happened to me, but of course everybody is different, so...

I recommend this book to people who like learning about history and that can handle sad parts because there are a couple of sad parts in this book. I also recommend to people who just like overall a good book to read. I pick this book because as soon as I saw it, it seemed interesting and my 5th grade teacher recommended it to me so I got it online. I am really picky about books so I am happy I chose a good, fun and interesting book like this one. I am now reading another book by this author call Bud, Not Buddy which is So good so far and I will blog about it when I am done reading it. <NS>

Shoeless Joe & Me

I just finished reading the book Shoeless Joe & Me By: Dan Gutman and it was a very exciting book. This book is part of a baseball collection. The first book that I read from this collection was Jackie & Me and I found that book really good that decided to look at the collection once again to see what book I would like next. That is when I found Shoeless Joe & Me and thought that it would be the perfect book for me. These books are based around the idea of baseball and time travel which I thought would be interesting because you don't find that many books with those two ideas put together.

The main character in the book is a boy named Joe Stoshack and he loves baseball. I like how Dan Gutman used him in the book. When I first started reading the book, I thought the character was cliched. It seemed like any other baseball book with a kid who loves baseball and he would want to meet the best baseball player in the world. But the suspenseful situation he was in, really made the book fun and interesting and made me hardly put the book down. I am not much of a reader, but when I find a book that I like, I can't stop reading it. I also love learning about history and this book took you back to the year 1919 in a fun way with original black and white pictures from that time involving the famous baseball player Shoeless Joe Jackson. I recommend this book to anybody of all ages because I know you will enjoy it as much as I did. If you like suspense and action books, this book is the right one for you. I read the entire collection and I loved every one of those baseball card adventures. If you don't like baseball, after this book you will want to go outside and play the game. This book showed me the past, present and future of the game known as baseball. <NS>
